Adults Only Aurora Hunt from Tromso with Wandering Owl
A small group aurora hunt for adults only, run on ethical terms, leaving Tromsø's light pollution behind for open Arctic country. The guides decide where to go from the forecasts and from what they know about how this region's weather behaves. Once the spot is chosen, everyone gets into warm thermal suits, a campfire goes up, and a hot meal is served. The guide photographs you through the evening, and those images are free afterwards in web resolution. Hot tea by the fire before the drive back to your hotel in Tromsø. Nobody guarantees the aurora here. What the operator says instead is worth taking literally: the more evenings you go out, the better your odds, and their hunters work every night of the season.

Wait outside the Scandic Ishavshotel.
Kvaloya
Some nights the clear sky sits over the coast, so the group hunts the gaps out here on Kvaløya. At the stop the guide builds a campfire and serves a homemade meal, tells stories about the region and explains what causes the aurora, and takes professional landscape shots and portraits of the group.
Skibotn
Other nights the breaks in the cloud are inland, and Skibotn is where the group ends up. The routine is the same wherever the night leads: campfire, homemade meal, the guide's account of the region and of the aurora itself, and professional photographs of both the country and the people in it.
Kilpisjarvi
When Norway is closed in completely, the group crosses into Finland, though only when the odds of finding gaps there are substantially better than staying put. Even this far out the stop works the same way: a campfire, a homemade meal, stories about the area, an explanation of the aurora, and professional landscape photographs and portraits.
