24 Hour Northern Lights and Whale Watching Cruise from Tromso

Twenty four hours at sea in a small group, leaving Tromsø in the evening and sailing beyond the fjord where no light from shore reaches. The aurora comes first. The route crosses the auroral oval, the band around the magnetic pole where the lights appear most often, and out there the only competition for the sky is the ship's own deck lighting. Dinner is three courses in the Arctic restaurant, followed by a drink in the panorama lounge and a lecture on the aurora. Then a cabin, and the ship moves overnight toward the whale grounds. The next day starts with the chance of seeing whales from your own porthole, then hours out on deck watching them, with guides explaining what the animals are doing and why. One trip, two things that only happen in this part of the world in winter, and the ship does the travelling while you sleep.
