Greatland Adventures
The search covers the country in and around Anchorage. The tour vehicle works as a base camp, along with a portable winter shelter that has a heater, chairs, hot drinks and snacks. Somewhere warm to sit is what lets a group stay out until 3 am. Space weather and ground weather are both forecast each night, and the tour only runs when there is a reasonable expectation of seeing something. Nothing about the aurora can be guaranteed, but on the nights the tour does operate the success rate is over 90%, and you only pay if it goes ahead. It suits sightseers and serious photographers equally. Aurora photography instruction and aurora portraits are both provided. Departure is generally at 9 pm, with a return around 3 am.
