Dalton Highway Arctic Circle and Aurora Tour, Six Guests Maximum
North from Fairbanks along the Dalton Highway, one of the most remote roads anywhere you can reach by vehicle, as far as the Arctic Circle. The day is spent watching the forest thin out and give way to wide valleys and tundra. There are several scenic stops for photographs and short walks, including time at the Arctic Circle sign at 66°33'N. The return is the clever part: the late night drive is timed for the hours when the aurora is most likely, and the guide uses live aurora forecasts to choose where and when to stop. Mostly this is a road trip with short easy walks and continuous commentary from an Alaskan guide. Groups are limited to 6 guests in a new 11 passenger van built for Arctic conditions. Six people in an eleven seat van means a guaranteed window seat for everyone, an unhurried pace, regular breaks and room to change plans. Snacks, water and hot drinks are included.

Alyeska Pipeline Viewing Point
The Trans Alaska Pipeline runs alongside the route, with roadside viewpoints and photo stops along the way.
James Dalton Highway
The Dalton is one of the most remote and northerly highways in the world, running from the forests north of Fairbanks into the far north. There is a photo stop at the James Dalton Highway sign before the first 115 miles of the Haul Road to the Arctic Circle sign. The tour does not continue to Coldfoot, whatever TripAdvisor's itinerary map may show for this stop.

A stop at the Yukon River, where the route crosses the only bridge on the Dalton Highway. There is time to warm up indoors, have dinner and go outside for photographs over the river.
