Electric Moose Studios Aurora Tour with Studio Portraits and Hot Pizza
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
FairbanksNathan is a professional portrait photographer, which is not the usual background for an aurora guide in Fairbanks. He spent 10 years shooting weddings full time before moving to aurora portraiture, which he has been doing for over 7 years. The difference shows in the method. Plenty of tours include free portraits; this one uses controlled supplemental studio lighting, developed over those 7 years, to get sharpness and quality that a single camera on a tripod cannot. Lighting a person properly against a moving light source in the sky is a genuinely hard problem, and it is the reason most aurora portraits look like silhouettes. Gear is provided to keep you warm and safe: hand and toe warmers, headlamps, water bottles and more. Nathan also has more than 20 years of Alaskan Arctic wilderness experience, so the guiding is as solid as the photography. Hot pizza comes with it.
