The budget option, and unusually honest about what that means. The bus is modern and heated, and the route changes with the weather: inland, along the coast, or across into Finland, whatever the night requires. The operator is straightforward about the trade-off. Clear sky comes before scenery here, and with the roads busier than they used to be, some stops are at the roadside rather than at a picture postcard viewpoint. The aim is the best view of the aurora available, not the best view of the ground under it. Same with the temperature: the bus is warm, but on very cold nights it cools down. Dress in layers.
