Tromso Aurora Tour with a Free Portrait, Bonfire and Marshmallows
Local guides who chase this sky for a living take the group out from the meeting point, away from the city lights and into the fjords and mountains. Their working area is 350 km wide and reaches deep into Finland, which is what makes the difference on a night when everything within an hour of Tromsø is under cloud. The spot is chosen for that night. While the group waits, hot chocolate and cookies come out, and a bonfire is built when the weather allows, with marshmallows to roast over it. The guide talks through what is known about the aurora and what people have believed about it, the traditions and the superstitions alongside the physics. Kirkegata 2, Tromsø
Arrive at least 5 minutes before departure. The meeting point is at the crossing of Kirkegata and Kaigata, in front of the white building, the Tromsø Tourist Shop. After the tour, drop-off is at hotels inside the city centre.
