Aurora Photography Hunt from Rovaniemi with a Professional Hunter

The route follows the forecast rather than a plan, which means driving in whichever direction looks most promising and away from the light thrown out by towns and villages. The guide is a professional aurora hunter and treats the night as partly a lesson: Arctic nature, how people live up here, and what the northern lights actually are. Educational and adventurous in roughly equal measure. The photographs are taken by the guide on a professional camera, which doubles as a hunting tool. A camera picks up a faint aurora long before the human eye does, and that is often how a stop gets chosen.
