Bodo Northern Lights Safari by 4WD Van with an 88% Hit Rate
The season here runs from the beginning of September to April, and within it the odds in northern Norway are good. Where the van goes on any given night is decided by two things: the cloud cover and the geomagnetic forecast. The guides drive toward whichever combination of clear sky and good viewing they can find. They have more than 25 different spots to work with and will check them, which is why some nights end with a 2 am return to Bodø. The operator reports a hit rate of around 88% over recent seasons, and gives you an honest read on the night's chances before the tour starts rather than after you have paid. Transport is a Mercedes 7 seater 4WD van with a panoramic sunroof, which means the sky is visible from your seat while the van is moving.

Bodo
Bodø sits just above the Arctic Circle, which puts it in the right band for aurora hunting. The safari is small group, by car, out into the countryside after dark.
