Evening ATV Ride and Northern Lights Sightseeing in Northern Norway

An aurora hunt on four wheels, riding out through open Arctic country in the dark. Pickup is from your hotel, the harbour or the tourist information centre, and the drive goes to the small village of Kviby. There you are given warm clothing and a helmet, and a full safety briefing before anyone starts an engine. The ride follows the coastline in small groups. This stretch has a reputation for good aurora conditions, and if the weather cooperates the green light appears over ground with nothing built on it. The guides speak English and know Northern Norwegian nature and culture well enough to talk about it for an evening. Nobody can promise the aurora, but this operator keeps looking rather than parking at the first stop. Afterwards you are driven back. The vehicle is the point. An ATV can reach viewpoints that a coach cannot, and it puts you outside in the cold air instead of behind glass, which is a different way of seeing the sky.
