Northern Lights from a Family Wilderness Cabin near Levi

The cabin belongs to a local family and sits by a private lake with no light pollution anywhere near it, which is a rarer combination in Lapland than the brochures suggest. The guides were born and raised here, so what they talk about is not a script: the old myths, but also what daily life in Lapland actually involves. The watching happens from reindeer hides spread on the frozen lake, which is warmer than it sounds and considerably better than standing. Inside the cabin there is a fire going, homemade pies, fresh marshmallows, sausages to grill and hot berry juice. Groups stay small, because the place is a house rather than a venue, and the hosting is done by the family who lives there.
