Spirit of the Aurora: Reykjavík Group Tour with a Dedicated Photographer
One person on this tour does nothing except take photographs. That is the operator's argument and it holds up: the pictures are what most people keep from an aurora night, and a guide driving a minibus in the dark cannot also be working a camera properly. The tour only runs when the weather justifies it. Conditions are assessed every day and the decision is made by 5 PM. If the night is cancelled you are notified then, and questions can go by email before that. It started as one guide who wanted to give more than the standard trip. Demand grew, the team grew with it, and what runs now is a group of guides working to the same idea rather than one person with a van.
