This one suits anyone who wants to hunt the northern lights without being herded along with dozens of other tourists. The operator runs small tours only, which means the guide has time for everyone in the group. A comfortable van collects you from your hotel and drives out to the Arctic lake, well clear of the city. Locals here see the aurora regularly and still do not take it for granted: catching it takes decent timing and a share of luck, and nature does not take bookings. The chase is the part you can count on. The lake also comes with an authentic Lappish tipi, where there are juicy sausages and hot drinks while the waiting goes on.
