Husky Sled Ride and Northern Lights Tour from Kiruna
The guide drives the sled, so your hands are free and your eyes can stay on the sky while a team of huskies pulls you through the dark. The run covers about 13 km, with a stop halfway at the operator's teepee, sited where the view of the northern sky is best. There is tea or coffee and a fire to warm up by, time to look at the country around you, and the aurora if it shows. The dogs are happy to be made a fuss of, so you can get close to them. From the teepee the team mushes back to the kennel. You return the borrowed gear there, and a minivan takes you back to Kiruna or the Icehotel. Worth knowing before you book: by late March and through April it is no longer properly dark during these tours. The dusk is still worth seeing, but the aurora is unlikely to appear while you are on the sled, simply because the sky has not gone dark by then. Booking note: all sales are final, with no refund for cancellation.

Husky Tours Lapland
At the kennel you are given warm gear to borrow and shown how to sit on the sled safely, then the team heads out. Along the way everyone watches the sky. After about 6 km comes the teepee, placed where the aurora shows best if it comes. A fire is lit, with coffee and a cinnamon roll, and time for photographs before getting back on the sled for the run home.
