Northern Lights and Huskies at a Takhini River Dog Lodge
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
WhitehorseThe dogs come first here. More than 100 of them live on site, and the place is built for people who actively like being surrounded by dogs rather than merely tolerating them. Anyone uneasy in that company will not enjoy the evening. The lodge sits outside the reach of city light pollution, which changes how the night works: the aurora shows up directly overhead, and nobody has to drive anywhere to find it. The property runs down to the bank of the Takhini River, and until the water freezes, usually by late October, the surface can hold a second aurora. Those mirror pictures are the reason some guests book the early part of the season rather than the deep cold.
