Northern Lights ATV Quad Ride from Reykjavík to Hafravatn Lake
Driving a quad at night is a different way to wait for the aurora, and the route argues the case: rough trails out through the countryside to Hafravatn lake and Mount Hafrafell, with Reykjavík and Mosfellsbær laid out below once the group gets high enough. Waiting is built into the night. While the sky makes up its mind the guides turn everyone's attention to the stars, and when the weather cooperates there are shooting stars to count. Pickup covers all hotels in the Reykjavík area. Parts of downtown are closed to tour vehicles, and in those cases pickup moves to the nearest tourist bus stop, which is usually a short walk away. You can also make your own way to the basecamp, 20 minutes from downtown Reykjavík.

Drive all the way up the hill, park the car, then go right, towards the middle of the yellow tan house.
Action Adventures
The ride heads for Hafravatn lake and Mount Hafrafell. If the mountain is reachable that night, the view opens over Reykjavik, Mosfellsbær and the towns nearby. The tour only runs when there is a chance of clear sky. A guide leads the way along rugged trails through the Icelandic countryside. If the lights keep everyone waiting, the group switches to star chasing and looks for shooting stars, and the wishes are unlimited. Two people share each quad on the standard Double Ride rate. Select Single Ride during booking, for a little extra, and the quad is yours alone.
