Northern Lights Photo Tour from Kiruna with Sami Photo Guides

Camera equipment and a tripod are lent to you, so this works even if you arrived in Lapland with nothing but a phone. The guides are Sámi photographers born in this area, who have been out in these forests since childhood. That is the useful kind of local knowledge: they pick the night's spot from experience of how weather moves here, not from a map. There is always some chance of the aurora. Even on a poor night, there are places within reach where the sky is better, provided you know where they are.
