Rovaniemi

The operator sets one condition and sticks to it: the tour counts as successful only if the aurora is captured on camera during the night. If that does not happen, the retry is free. There is no kilometre limit and no fixed viewpoint. The chase works from real-time forecasts and crosses Finnish Lapland, and into Sweden or Norway when the sky there is better. The guides hold Arctic Guiding Course certification. The camera is a professional HD body with a fast 24mm night lens (f/1.4 to f/2), which is the equipment that makes photographs of people under an aurora possible rather than just photographs of the sky. The pictures arrive by email within 24 hours. Cookies and hot drinks come with the waiting, along with the myths people told about the lights and the physics that replaced them. The format is private, so it suits couples, families or a group who want to set their own pace, and it can be customised, including for a proposal. Pickup and drop-off are free within 20 km of Rovaniemi city centre.

  1. Lapland

The goal is a photograph of you with the aurora behind you. If the lights are not found, the rebooking is free. 1. Private van pickup from your accommodation. An evening collection by an experienced aurora guide, with a professional camera and tripod already in the vehicle. 2. Weather and aurora briefing. The guide picks the clear-sky locations from real-time forecasts and explains how the lights form and what ruins visibility. 3. The chase across Arctic Lapland. A drive through the wilderness, moving between locations when moving improves the odds. 4. The photography session. Once the aurora is up, the camera comes out and guests go in the frame. 5. A warm break, with cookies and hot drinks under the Arctic sky. 6. The return transfer to your accommodation.
