Rovaniemi Aurora Hunt with Campfire, Finnish Pie and Berry Juice
The night starts in the evening and covers several spots, because one location is a bet and three are a strategy. The drive goes tens of kilometres from the city lights, beyond the Arctic Circle, stopping at places worth standing in: frozen forest, open ground, real Arctic country rather than a lay-by. The food is the Finnish standard for outdoor winter nights and none the worse for it: sausages grilled over the fire, Finnish pie, hot berry juice, cookies, marshmallows. It suits photographers and anyone who does not mind a late finish. The aurora, as the operator says plainly, cannot be hunted successfully every night.

Rovaniemi
A hunt across several places chosen for their winter scenery as much as for the sky. At the stops there are sausages on the fire, Finnish pie, hot berry juice with cookies and marshmallows to grill, all under the Arctic sky. When the lights appear there is time to watch them properly and photograph them.
