Rovaniemi

Arctic GM, trading as The Original Aurora Hunters, is family run with roots in Lapland going back to the 1600s. The tour is structured as a hunt rather than a transfer to a viewpoint. The evening starts at a central meeting point in Rovaniemi and continues by coach, with the route changing through the night as weather and aurora forecasts change. That can mean up to 2 hours of driving from the city, including towards the Swedish border when the sky there is better. Stops are at locations chosen for their distance from light pollution. When the sky clears, everyone gets out into the Arctic dark and the guides help with photographs. Thermal overalls, hot drinks and light snacks are included. The whole thing runs roughly 4 to 6 hours.
