Tromso Aurora Hunt with Campfire and a Professional Photographer
The Green Adventure Team has been running aurora hunts around Tromsø for years, and this one comes with photography included. Pickup is in front of Scandic Ishavshotel, then out in the minibus. On the way the expedition leader explains the weather situation, what the odds look like and which locations are in play. The guides stay in contact with other aurora hunters through the evening, which is how a group finds out that the cloud broke 40 km away. At the chosen spot they build a bonfire. Hot drinks, marshmallows to roast, stories from the north and the old legends about the aurora, plus a soup made in Tromsø for Arctic expeditions. The photographs from the night come from the expedition leader afterwards. Working as a network is the practical edge here. One vehicle sees one patch of sky; several in touch with each other see the whole region.
