Chena Hot Springs Aurora Tour from Fairbanks with Ice Museum

Two things in one evening: Alaska's best known hot springs resort, and the aurora over the wilderness around it. Pickup is from your Fairbanks accommodation in the late afternoon, then about sixty miles through the Tanana State Forest, which is full of wildlife, to Chena Hot Springs Resort. There you visit the Ice Museum, soak in the hot springs and eat in the resort's restaurant. When the resort activities finish in the late evening, the focus shifts to the aurora, both around the resort and at spots along the road back. Sitting in hot water at 40°C while the air above you is at minus thirty is a particular kind of comfort, and the sky out here is dark enough that the aurora needs no help at all.
