Fire and Ice: Chena Hot Springs, Ice Museum and Aurora from Fairbanks
The evening starts with the drive from Fairbanks out to Chena Hot Springs Resort. First the Ice Museum, with its lit ice sculptures. Then a choice: eat at the resort restaurant, which is optional and not included, or skip dinner and spend the time in the water instead. Anyone who brings snacks or eats lightly gets a longer soak. The hot springs themselves are outdoors and mineral rich, under open sky with forest around them and steam coming off the surface. After the soak the group moves to the better aurora spots. Nothing about the aurora is guaranteed, but the guide watches conditions through the night and fills the wait with local knowledge. Pickup runs between 4:30 and 5:30 PM depending on weather. Return is as late as 2:00 AM, and the guides will stay out longer if the display is worth it.

Park near the pharmacy entrance, in the far corner of the car park. The operator will call when you arrive and drive to your location. The guide carries proof of business and will greet you.
Chena Hot Springs Resort
The night starts with the drive from Fairbanks out to Chena Hot Springs. The water is mineral rich and outdoors, so snow falls into it while you sit there. Inside, the Ice Museum has its lit sculptures, and a cocktail served in a glass made of ice. Before or after the soak there is the option of eating at the resort restaurant, which serves substantial Alaskan food and hot drinks. Then the group heads for the better aurora spots. The lights cannot be guaranteed, but the guide gives you the best odds available and explains both the science and the old stories behind them. On the nights the aurora stays away, the rest of the evening still stands up on its own: hot springs, ice sculptures, a proper meal and a sky full of stars.
