Rovaniemi Northern Lights Camp at Olkkajärvi Lake with Campfire Snacks
A family run tour with small groups, which changes the arithmetic: fewer people at the fire, more attention from the guide, and no queue for anything. The camp sits by Olkkajärvi Lake. The fire gets lit, grilled sausages and Karelian rice pies come out, and the group watches the sky while eating. If the aurora does not appear there, the night moves to Norvajärvi for a second attempt, which is the sort of decision a small operator can make and a coach cannot.

Our adventure starts at a cozy camp near Olkkajärvi Lake
The night starts at a camp near Olkkajärvi Lake, with 2.5 hours there watching for the northern lights. If conditions are safe there may also be a walk out on the ice. The waiting happens around a campfire, with hot drinks, sausages and rice pies.
After our time at Olkkajärvi Lake
If the lights have not appeared by the end of the time at Olkkajärvi, the group moves on to Norvajärvi and tries again. Conditions permitting, there is a chance to walk on the frozen lake surface there too.
